Being on the road and discovering so much of the freely beautiful South Western Australian land, we really didn’t think we could find anything better than all that we had experienced in the week prior, but we were proven wrong once we drove into the small but lively town of Esperance.
A chilly early morning run along the esplanade while the sun woke was just a little taste of the days ahead. Warm coffee and a breakfast bowl in the back of the van and we were kicked into gear for a full day of adventures. Our plan for day one was to hit the Great Ocean Drive and explore the many calm coves, surf spots and endless views we had heard so much about. And that’s exactly what we found + more!
Here are our picks for Esperance
Great Ocean Drive
38km loop drive showcasing one of the best coastlines we have explored in Aus. With crystal clear waters, white sands, rugged cliffs, red dirt and towering wind farms - this is one unique road trip we will find hard to forget.
Frenchmans Peak Hike - Cape Le Grande
Steep hike and climb in Cape Le Grande NP. Views from the top are epic! Overlooking the amazing turqoise coastline, mountains and untouched deserted land. We found a hidden cave and had the spot to ourselves to soak it all up.
Lucky Bay Beach and Thistle Cove
Turquoise blue water and white sands make these spots a true paradise. You can't find a more Australian beach than Lucky Bay, with hundreds of Kangaroos frequenting the area. Fun hike to the peak above Lucky Bay giving a new perspective. We continued on the track and made our way over to the secluded and pristine Thistle Cove to catch the last light of another beautiful summers day
Sharing these experiences and moments together in the beautiful Esperance region was a definite highlight of our time in South West Oz. Beautiful places are more treasured when shared with beautiful people!
Thanks to Mighty Campers for yet another epic adventure while on the road
