The neighbouring islands of Tahiti are the most popular and the main island is often missed. We took the time to explore Tahiti island and found some real hidden beauty worth visiting.\
One of the highlights of our time spent in Tahiti was exploring the centre of the island. We travelled in a jeep deep into the crater discovering endless valleys and waterfalls. The area is full of lush flora and fauna.
We found some beautiful streams to take a refreshing dip in. It was surreal to be swimming in such a remote area between the huge volcanic mountain ranges.
Everything was so green and the waterfalls were flowing beautifully. This is usually the case within this valley due to the rainfall keeping vegetation fresh and healthy and making for an amazing sight.
Being beneath some of the tallest waterfalls in Tahiti made us feel so small and insignificant. A cool experience.
We met some inspiring locals who grew up amongst these secluded valleys and shared their stories of life growing up here. They taught us their ways of communication, hunting and Tahitian tribes.
Our time spent on this part of the island was a very special and memorable experience and is certainly not to be missed if you’re visiting Tahiti.
