LAKE EILDON - HOUSEBOAT ADVENTURE

March 31, 2016

Our week spent on Lake Eildon was easily some of the best days of our life. You can’t comprehend how special the place is until you have spent an entire day from sunrise to sunset, to finishing it with a night sleeping on the lake.

We were lucky enough to have stayed on the beautiful Lake Eildon Marina and House Boat’s Senator 10 Berth boat. It accommodated the two of us, plus our family and still plenty of room for more. Our favourite thing about this boat was that no matter where you were you had an incredible view, whether it be your bedroom, the bathroom or while cooking dinner, your outlook would be over the calm blue waters of Lake Eildon. We had a huge deck where we spent most of our time enjoying the sun and soaking up the views, and a jacuzzi and bbq area up top, lined with deck chairs. Our week was gifted with perfect weather, long sunny and hot days and calm conditions. We found a quaint little hidden cove overlooking the beautiful mountain ranges surrounding the lake, this would be our home for the next week.

Each morning we would wake before the sun to the glassy waters and the sounds of the birds waking. It was a peaceful setting and that made it really special. We would kickstart with a breakfast bbq followed by a morning dip in the warm and clear fresh waters of Lake Eildon. We would spend our days jumping and flipping into the water, floating in lilos, wakeboarding, waterskiing and jetskiing.

We also took a few hikes up the steep mountains which were the backdrop to our boat. There were no tracks so we just meandered through the untouched bushland in the blistering heat until we reached the top to some breathtaking views over the beautiful lake. Each day ended with a perfect sunset over the mountains. Our family would gather on the deck with a few drinks, a fishing rod and some guitars to reflect on another incredible day together. What life is all about.

Something thats really unique about Lake Eildon is the way the stars light up the sky at night. We were really lucky to have clear days and nights during our time spent on the lake and there are no nearby city light pollution so we were greeted by a light show each night. One night we slept on the deck chairs on top beneath the stars. We have never seen a milky way so vibrant.

Lake Eildon will always hold a special place in our hearts, its another beautiful part of Australia worth exploring. We can’t wait to visit again next summer! Click here to check out the awesome team at Lake Eildon Marina & Houseboat’s website to book your next adventure.
