We recently had the opportunity to share a glamping experience in one of Seven Mile Beach Holiday Park’s unique Eco Safari Tents. We felt a million miles away from the rest of the world as we arrived in our cosy tent, set on the banks of the beautiful Crooked River in Gerroa.
The setting is so serene and tranquil. We were surrounded by birds and wildlife, palm trees and dense bushland and the flowing Crooked River. We knew we were in for a new experience as we unzipped our eco tent and settled in to our home for the weekend, admiring the 5 star views.
We squeezed in as much exploring of the nearby area as we possibly could that day as the weather couldn’t have been any better. We grabbed a morning coffee and breakfast from the café within the park, and enjoyed it on our timber deck. It was some quick fuel for the early surf we set off for.
We wandered across the road to Seven Mile Beach and spent a couple of hours sliding on some small and glassy waves. It’s fun sharing waves with the locals and that’s something we really love about Gerroa.
We then made our way to the nearby Werri Beach and took a short hike along the coastal cliffs, the views were epic! Working up an appetite, we headed back and grabbed some food fit for a picnic. We took it to a secluded grassy headland overlooking Werri and spent some time soaking up the warm sun.
We topped the day off with a sunset from Kingsford Smith Lookout; the views over the hinterland and stretch of Seven Mile Beach are incredible.
Ending the day in our eco safari tent was the highlight. We had some local food on our deck and embraced the views of the moonlit river on our doorstep. We couldn’t resist the free standing bath so we both took some time to wind down before drifting off to the calm sounds of the night.
Morning wakeup call from the friendly kookaburras and we were up early for a sunrise walk along Seven Mile. Golden hour is extra special here.
After a morning dip and coffee – the essentials – it was time for another day of exploring. A wander through the local Gerringong markets was nothing short of good food and local art. We stocked up on freshly baked bread and headed to Minnamurra Rainforest in the Budderoo National Park. We took the falls walk which has plenty of beautiful spots along the way. With cascades and lush rainforest, we were surrounded by spectacular scenes the entire walk. Finishing at the falls was so rewarding.
After another incredible day, we spent the night star gazing from the comfort of our deck and let the quaint sounds of the Crooked River send us to sleep ready to wake to another day in paradise!
