We recently spent some time exploring Canada, hiking to some epic viewpoints and mountain tops. We love hiking and Canada is a hikers heaven, so we found ourselves caught right in the centre of our element! One of our favourite hikes we found is in Banff National Park. This national park is filled with rugged mountain ranges, snow glaciers and some breathtaking blue lakes! We took the opportunity to explore all of these by doing the Big Beehive Hike.
We started the hike one early and sunny morning at Lake Louise. We spent some time soaking up the views over the lake. The morning was so calm making the reflections of the mountains on the blue water look like a postcard!
We firstly hiked 3.5km up to the beautiful Lake Agnes. We were greeted by a waterfall plunging through the forest, a turquoise lake with rugged mountains as the backdrop and a quaint teahouse perched on the edge of the water. We embraced the 360 degree views while enjoying some fresh food from the teahouse. After a good fuel up we began our hike to the Big Beehive which was another 1.6km to the top.
The trail zigzagged up the side of the mountain, looking down to Lake Agnes. It was amazing to see from above. As we approached the top, the Victoria Glacier towered above us.
Reaching the top was an incredible feeling. Seeing Lake Louise from above gave us a completely new perspective. We spent a couple of hours just embracing what was right in front of us. It’s a special place. Its moments like this which make you feel alive. We can’t wait to visit this spot again in the near future
